Comparison of McDonald’s and Subway’s Grilled Chicken Sandwich
To a greater extent, most people consider Mcdonald’s unhealthy compared to Subway restaurant, which is deemed healthy. This paper compares the Grilled Chicken Sandwiches from both restaurants. At Mcdonald’s, the Grilled Chicken Sandwich is considered one of the healthiest options, while it is one of the unhealthy options at Subway.
One McDonalds Grilled Chicken Sandwich weighs 155 grams, and it has a total of 300 calories with fat of 4 grams and total fat of 5 grams. Another nutritional fact is that it has a cholesterol of 60 milligrams, sodium of 730 milligrams, total carbohydrates of 39 grams, 3 grams of dietary fiber, 20 grams of protein, and added sugar of 8 grams (Amanda, n.p). On the other hand, the Subway Grilled Chicken Sandwich weighing 155 grams has calories of 140 grams, total fat of 3.5 grams, sodium of 360 grams, total carbohydrates of 40 grams, 17 grams of proteins, 2.5 grams of dietary sugar, and 6 grams of saturated sugar (Amanda, n.p). From a strictly nutritional perspective, Subway sandwiches are healthier than Mcdonald’s. The Subway sandwich has half the calories compared to Mcdonald’s. Therefore, despite being served under the same name, the Grilled Chicken Sandwich at Subway is healthier than the one at Mcdonald’s. It has fewer carbohydrates, proteins, and sodium minerals contrasted to Mcdonald’s.
In conclusion, I have learned that it is always essential to gather evidence about nutritional facts of the food served by a particular restaurant to term them as either healthy or unhealthy. One should not judge the healthiness of the food by the name it is served under only but should consider the actual nutritional facts of each item in the meal.
